PSL goes after Hardrock Hooligans over Chahwanda Stadium violence

HARARE – The Premier Soccer League has formally asked Hardrock FC to help identify supporters involved in misconduct during the abandoned Castle Lager PSL match at Chahwanda Stadium on 24 May 2026.

In a letter dated 27 May 2026 and addressed to the Hardrock FC administrator, PSL Chief Executive Officer Rodwell Thabe requested the club’s assistance in identifying “unnamed individuals appearing in the attached pictures and many more visuals circulating on social media.”

The letter states that the identification will help the PSL “bring these alleged culprits to book and strengthen measures aimed at dealing with violence and crowd disturbances at football matches.”

The PSL said it would appreciate “any information that may assist in identifying these individuals and many more captured visuals that may be in your possession.”

The request follows the abandonment of the Castle Lager PSL fixture at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday 24 May, after crowd disturbances disrupted play. The incident was part of a recent spate of match abandonments that have raised concerns over fan conduct and stadium security.

Hardrock FC, based in Kwekwe, plays its home matches at Chahwanda Stadium. The club’s official fan group is commonly referred to as the “Hardrock Hooligans.”

The PSL has been under pressure from sponsors, including Castle Lager, to act decisively against violence and restore confidence in the league.
