Ambassador Almassri calls for urgent international action and sanctions
The State of Palestine has condemned what it described as an “unprecedented wave of state and settler terrorism” across the occupied West Bank, after more than 178 attacks by Israeli settlers and coordinated raids by Israeli occupation forces within just 48 hours.
In a statement issued Sunday, Palestinian Ambassador Tamer Almassri said the escalation, which began on the evening of Saturday, 26 July 2026 and continued into the early hours of Sunday, marked a shift toward “systematic pogroms” in the occupied territory.
According to the statement, large areas of the West Bank witnessed simultaneous military incursions. Israeli forces carried out house raids, arrests, live fire, and deployed tear gas in Palestinian villages.
At the same time, Ambassador Almassri said, “Israeli terrorist settlers” attacked Palestinian homes and mosques, set vehicles ablaze, assaulted civilians, blocked ambulances, and closed major roads in dozens of villages. All of this, he said, occurred “under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.”
The Palestinian mission reported over 178 settler attacks in the 48-hour period.
Ambassador Almassri said the violence is part of an “official and systematic Israeli policy” of providing political, military, and protective cover to settlers.
“The continued impunity gives the occupation forces and the occupiers a green light to continue their crimes in order to displace Palestinian citizens and implement plans for annexation, ethnic cleansing, and extermination,” the statement read.
The State of Palestine called on governments to take “practical and urgent measures,” including:
- Issuing clear statements of condemnation
- Supporting independent international investigations
- Holding officials accountable for the crimes
- Imposing sanctions on what it called “the Israeli colonial system and its officials”
Ambassador Almassri stressed that Palestinians “can no longer tolerate the continuation of a policy of impunity.”
He urged the international community to “translate its legal and moral commitments into practical and tangible steps to end the occupation, ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians, and compel Israel, the occupying power, to respect international law and international legitimacy resolutions.”
There was no immediate comment from Israeli officials on the allegations as of publication.
