HARARE– The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has announced a temporary closure of the Mutare Road/Harare Drive junction, popularly known as Msasa Jaggers Roundabout, to advance works on the Msasa Interchange Project. The closure takes effect from 1 June 2026.
According to the Ministry, the project is part of the broader #KILOMETERBYKILOMETER infrastructure drive aimed at upgrading Zimbabwe’s road network. While construction will cause short-term disruption, officials say the long-term goal is improved traffic flow and, critically, enhanced road safety at one of Harare’s busiest junctions.
The Ministry is urging all motorists and road users to prioritize safety during the construction period. Key safety measures says motorists must use designated diversion routes and obey all temporary road signsAlso they should obey y traffic controllers as instructions from traffic management personnel on site must be followed to protect both drivers and construction workers.
It so pivotal that exercise caution is regarded with the Ministry stressing that cooperation from road users is essential to prevent accidents in the active construction zone.
“Any inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted, and the Ministry appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation as works progress on this important infrastructure project,” the statement read.
The Msasa Interchange Project is expected to reduce congestion and eliminate conflict points at the current roundabout once complete, directly addressing a known high-risk area for accidents.
