ZIFA Mourns Highlanders FC Trio Killed in Road Accident During Centenary Year

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic deaths of three Highlanders Football Club Executive Committee members in a road traffic accident.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, ZIFA confirmed the passing of Chairman Kenneth Mhlophe, Vice Chairman Fiso Siziba, and Treasurer Nkani Khoza.

The association described the loss as “immeasurable” for Highlanders FC, the city of Bulawayo, and the wider Zimbabwean football family.

“This is an immeasurable loss for Highlanders Football Club, the city of Bulawayo, and the Zimbabwean football family,” ZIFA said.
“Their unwavering commitment, selfless service and leadership made an enduring contribution to one of the country’s most iconic football institutions.”

The tragedy comes as Highlanders commemorates its 100th anniversary — a year meant to celebrate a century of “excellence, resilience and pride.”
Instead, ZIFA said, the Bosso family has been “plunged into profound grief.”
ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi led tributes to the fallen administrators.

“Today, Zimbabwean football has lost three devoted servants whose passion and commitment helped shape one of our nation’s greatest football institutions,” Magwizi said.
“We are devastated by this heartbreaking tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased… as well as the entire Highlanders family.
“It is especially painful that this loss comes during Highlanders’ centenary year, a time that should have been filled with celebration.”

Magwizi added that the football family is united in mourning and prayed “that God grants comfort, strength and peace to every grieving heart.”

ZIFA said it stands “shoulder to shoulder with Highlanders Football Club and the wider football community” in honouring the lives, service and legacy of the three officials.

The association extended its “deepest and most heartfelt condolences” to the families, the Highlanders Executive Committee, players, technical team, members, and supporters affected by the loss.
