Zimbabwe to host first Future Capital Forum alongside ZimReal in August

By Tendai Chisiri

Zimbabwe will host its first Zimbabwe Future Capital Forum on 26 August at Hyatt Regency Harare, the Meikles, running alongside the 6th ZimReal Property Investment Forum.

Organised by API Events, the one-day forum will bring together pension funds, private equity, banks, and representatives from the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange, Victoria Falls Stock Exchange and Johannesburg Stock Exchange with property sector leaders for the first time domestically.

Over 400 delegates from more than 100 local, regional and international companies are expected. Backers include the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency, Zimbabwe Association of Pension Funds, Mining Industry Pension Fund and South Africa’s Eskom Provident Pension Fund.

The forum comes as Zimbabwe implements major capital markets reforms over the past 24 months, including eased listing rules, new frameworks for SPACs and ATPs, Green and Sustainability Bonds, and Statutory Instruments 62 and 63 which formalized VFEX operations.

The combined market cap of ZSE and VFEX now exceeds US$7 billion. VFEX alone is at about US$3.8 billion across 19 counters after Econet InfraCo’s US$1 billion listing in March. Zimbabwe’s pension sector held about US$2.63 billion in assets by mid-2025.

“The capital exists and the products are finally here; this forum is where they meet,” said Murray Anderson of API Events.

Panels will focus on turning reforms into bankable deals, unlocking pension and private equity capital, and growing REITs and real estate investment.
