Agribusiness partners with CancerServe Foundation to deliver seed donations for nutrition, healing and food security

HARARE — Seed Co is putting down more than crops this season. The agribusiness is championing its “Threads of Hope towards Cancer” initiative in partnership with the CancerServe Foundation to support cancer patients and celebrate survivors across Zimbabwe.
Under the theme “Seed Co, Growing Hope. Growing Health. Growing Together,” the company says success is not only measured in field yields, but in the hope it plants in communities.
“We believe that true success is measured not only by the seeds we sow in our fields, but also by the hope we plant in the lives of people,” Seed Co said in a statement.
Seeds for resilience, not just fields
The company has teamed up with the CancerServe Foundation, led by Dr Nyakabau, to reach cancer patients and survivors nationwide. The collaboration was highlighted at the Threads of Hope event, which Seed Co described as “a powerful reminder that no one should face the cancer journey alone.”
As part of its corporate social responsibility drive, Seed Co’s Managing Director, management, and staff are backing initiatives with tangible impact. The firm is donating maize seed, traditional grains, and vegetable seed to help survivors establish nutritious home gardens.
The goal: to promote healthy living, improve food security, and give families a sustainable source of fresh produce during and after treatment.
“These seed donations represent more than agriculture; they are symbols of resilience, healing, and new beginnings,” Seed Co noted. “Every seed planted is a testament to the strength of cancer survivors and to the power of partnerships that transform lives.”
Commitment beyond the campaign
Seed Co says it remains committed to nurturing healthier communities and supporting those affected by cancer alongside the CancerServe Foundation. The programme is framed as part of a long-term effort to inspire hope “one life, one family, and one seed at a time.”
The initiative adds to growing corporate involvement in Zimbabwe’s cancer response, with agriculture being used as a tool for recovery and self-reliance for survivors.
