Super Strikers coach Gilbert Phiri bemoaned lack of sponsorship as the major problem hampering the grassroots development of football in the country. “We have the talent at disposal but lack of sponsorship is hindering the junior league to be on the limelight”, he said. As an academy they have managed to produce stars like Leeroy Mavhunga who now plays for Yadah Gunners in Division 1,Romario Matowo who signed at the age of 16 at Caps United and Thulani Mavhunga who plays for Harare City which has been  promoted to Divison 1 from Division 2.

Super Strikers have managed to balance academics and sport by having two training sessions. “We always make time for  youngsters. Those who go to school in the morning session, train in the afternoon at 2pm to 4pm whilst those in the afternoon session at school train between 8am and 10 am”, revealed the coach.

He also  thanked the chairman of the league Mr Makoto for the support and later revealed that a sensational teenager was  doing exploits in their academy.”Tinotenda Mangava is destined for greater heights. He is a grade 7 pupil at Budiriro 4 primary and is our utility player in the under 13.
