The Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) Board has congratulated the national team for their outstanding performance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
During a meeting held in Harare on Friday, 10 April, the Board commended the team for reaching the Super Eight stage of the tournament for the first time in the country’s history.
The team secured impressive victories over Australia and Sri Lanka, progressing through the group stage unbeaten. This achievement guarantees Zimbabwe a spot at the next ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2028, co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
ZC Chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani praised the team’s hard work, discipline, and belief, stating, “Reaching the Super Eight stage for the first time is a testament to the squad and technical team’s efforts.”
The Board also commended the successful co-hosting of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 alongside Namibia, showcasing Zimbabwe’s capabilities as a host of major international cricket events.
“We are equally proud of the successful hosting of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026,” Mukuhlani said.
