Harare – Zimbabwe’s judicial system has reached a major milestone with the official launch of the digitalisation of all 16 magistrates’ courts in Matabeleland South and Masvingo provinces.
The move is part of Phase 4.2 of the Integrated Electronic Case Management System (IECMS), designed to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of justice.
In a press statement released by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on 1 October 2025, the transition to a digital platform was hailed as a pivotal step in modernising the country’s courts.
“This system will not only improve the speed of judicial proceedings but also provide vital data analytics that will aid in policy and decision-making,” the statement read. “It is transparent and reduces corruption.”
The IECMS platform will digitise key court processes, enabling e-payment of fees, e-filing of case documents, online case tracking, virtual court hearings, and digital access to judgments. The system is also designed to reduce case backlogs, cut travel costs, and streamline communication between courts and clients via email and SMS updates.
