Harare – The Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Dr. Tamer Almassri, has issued a stern warning that Israel’s ongoing military aggression in Gaza poses serious threats to global peace and security.
In a strongly worded statement, Dr. Almassri accused the Israeli government of committing atrocities with impunity, likening its actions to historical fascist regimes.
“If left unaccountable, Israel will continue to commit reckless acts, even against its allies, under the guise of fabricated excuses,” said Dr. Almassri. “This unchecked aggression is setting a dangerous precedent for the international community.”
The ambassador condemned what he described as the Israeli apartheid state’s “relentless bombardment” of Gaza City, which he said has turned the once-thriving metropolis into rubble.
According to Palestinian sources, over 65,283 people—predominantly women and children—have been killed, with more than 12,000 still trapped beneath the debris.
“Entire city blocks have been erased by airstrikes and explosive-laden robots,” he said. “This is not just a war—it is a genocide.”
Dr. Almassri also sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him a “fascist leader” who has turned crimes against humanity into “a source of pride and arrogance.”
He argued that the international community’s failure to hold Israel accountable is eroding the integrity of global institutions and emboldening other regimes to follow suit.
“We are witnessing a collapse of international norms,” he warned. “The world is sending a message that impunity is acceptable—this is not just about Palestine anymore.”
In one of the most pointed comparisons, the ambassador likened Israel’s displacement of Palestinians in Gaza to Nazi-era tactics.
“Herding civilians through fire into designated areas like Khan Younis, deploying internationally banned weapons, and using starvation as a weapon—this mirrors the horrors of ghettos and concentration camps,” Dr. Almassri asserted.
Despite the grim picture, Dr. Almassri welcomed recent moves by countries like Canada, the UK, and Australia, who have shown increased support for Palestinian rights.
“These decisions are vital,” he said. “They represent a recognition of the just and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and may help safeguard the two-state solution against the dangers of genocide, starvation, displacement, and annexation.”
As the conflict continues, Ambassador Almassri urged the international community to act swiftly and decisively.
“This is not just about Palestine. This is about the future of international law, justice, and humanity itself.”
