The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has expressed unequivocal support for the Palestinian people, welcoming the organization’s strong stance on the Gaza crisis.

According to Ambassador Tamer Almassri, the Permanent Palestinian Representative to SADC, the Communiqué from the 45th SADC Summit “reflects a shared commitment among SADC member states to justice and human rights.”

In a statement, Ambassador Almassri said, “This affirmation strengthens our resolve. The Palestinian people are not alone, and other nations still care deeply about our plight.” He emphasized that the Palestinian people remain steadfast in their struggle against Israeli occupation, genocide, and forced displacement.

The SADC Communiqué highlights grave concern over ongoing attacks on civilians in Palestine, resulting in significant loss of life and destruction. The death toll in Gaza has reached 62,004, with many more under the rubble. Ambassador Almassri expressed gratitude for SADC’s solidarity, stating it sends a “powerful message” to the Palestinian people.

The situation remains dire, with 27 Palestinians killed and 281 injured in the past 24 hours while attempting to access humanitarian aid. Hospitals in Gaza have recorded five deaths due to famine and malnutrition, including two children, bringing the total to 263.
