A truck belonging to Tika Chem Investments (Pvt) Ltd caused significant damage to the newly constructed Trabablas Interchange on July 8, 2025.

The incident occurred when the truck’s granite load fell, damaging the guard rails and pavement. The Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) quickly impounded the vehicle, and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development directed the owner to cover the full cost of repairs.

The Ministry emphasized the importance of protecting public infrastructure and urged citizens to report any instances of vandalism or negligence that could lead to damage.³ ⁴

The Trabablas Interchange, constructed at a cost of US$88 million, was officially commissioned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on May 30, 2025.
