“Eat & Lick Expelled from Equity House: Restaurant Owes ZEXCOM $26,800 in Unpaid Rentals”

Eat and Lick Rezende Street branch in Harare, has been expelled from the building for failing to pay rentals since October 2024 by the landlord ZEXCOM.

According to ZEXCOM chairman Mr Crispen Mashayamombe , Eat & Lick had a long-standing lease at Equity House.However dispute arose between the restaurant owners and Equity Properties management over rentals leading to their expulsion. Eat & Lick received an eviction notice from Equity properties ,the restaurant was eventually forced to vacate the premises and they finally vacated on 15 May 2025 owing the property management US$26 800 in rental arrears.

This is not the first time for Eat & Lick to be expelled in Harare central business district , in 2024 it was again expelled for failing to pay rentals. One of Harare branch between first street and Robert Mugabe avenue it was expelled, the messenger of court attached its property.

” We have since reached out  to our lawyers so that we recover our rental arrears from Eat & Lick restaurants.Its a total shame for such a big fast foods restaurant to fail to pay rentals, given the position which we are located right at one of the busiest ranks in the CBD ” Mashayamombe said.

Equity House is one of the Zexcom properties however there are some conflicts within the property ownership which are taking place .A bogus board purport to be ZEXCOM has infliltrated the organization and had fraudulently changed company documents which the right ownership discovered and the matter was reported to Law and Order.

ZEXCOM on 26 April 2026 held an Extraordinary General Meeting to elect the board after some internal conflicts and the current board was re-elected for another term of office.
