The Government of Zimbabwe, represented by the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife is actively participating in the 62nd Sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and its Paris Agreement.
This significant event started from June 16 to June 26, 2025, in Bonn, Germany. The session serves as a crucial technical negotiation platform aimed at advancing climate change discussions in light of the outcomes from the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP29), held in 2024.
The goal is to formulate draft decisions for consideration and adoption at COP30, scheduled for November 2025 in Belém, Brazil.
Zimbabwe’s delegation is prioritizing several key issues at the Conference:
- Finalization of indicators to track progress toward the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA).
- Support for the implementation of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs).
- Advancement of a Just Transition Work Programme that promotes equitable climate action for workers and communities.
- Enhanced capacity for full participation in carbon trading, as outlined in Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
- Climate finance.
- Review of reports on loss and damage associated with the adverse impacts of climate change.
- Development of a new gender action plan and its associated activities.
- Promotion of Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE), emphasizing youth and community involvement in climate solutions.
Zimbabwe stands in solidarity with other Developing and Least Developed Country Parties in advocating for climate justice, the provision of means for implementation (including finance, technology, and technical assistance), and inclusive climate action.
