Eagles won by 34 runs
Dion Myers made a fine return to form with an unbeaten 67, leading Eagles to a 34-run victory over Mountaineers at Harare Sports Club on Saturday and securing a place in the Domestic T20 Competition final against Rhinos.
After being put in to bat, Eagles had a shaky start, losing Tinashe Kamunhukamwe (10) and Wessly Madhevere (4) to Brian Bennett’s bowling with just 14 runs on the board.
Tadiwanashe Marumani sparked a recovery with a brisk 34 off 20 balls, but it was Myers’ partnership with Craig Ervine that truly shifted the momentum.
The pair added 71 runs for the fourth wicket in just eight overs, with Ervine contributing a quickfire 40 off 24 balls.
Tony Munyonga smashed two sixes in his five-ball cameo of 12, while Kundai Matigimu chipped in with 17 off 10 balls.
Myers anchored the innings with his 67 not out off 50 deliveries, guiding Eagles to an imposing total of 192 for six, scoring at almost 10 runs per over.
Mountaineers’ chase got off to a disastrous start as Joylord Gumbie fell for a duck on the third ball.
Their only real sign of resistance came when Bennett (14) and Matthew Welch (35) put on 39 runs in five overs for the second wicket.
However, a middle-order collapse left them reeling at 71 for six, with Madhevere claiming two crucial wickets.
With the required run rate climbing above 13 runs per over, Mountaineers faced an uphill battle.
Alistair Frost fought back with an unbeaten 37 off 23 balls, supported by Wellington Masakadza (22) and Victor Nyauchi (19), but their efforts only took them to 158 for eight.
Wallace Mubayiwa and Madhevere finished with two wickets apiece.
Eagles will now face Rhinos in the final at Harare Sports Club this Sunday, with the match set to begin at 13:45.

Tuskers – 158-5 in 20 overs (Brian Chari 76, Luke Jongwe 60, Ernest Masuku 10*; Dylan Hondo 3/17, Newman Nyamhuri 1/31, Shelton Mazvitorera 1/43)
Southern Rocks – 159-4 in 19.3 overs (Tafadzwa Tsiga 69*, Roy Kaia 39, Innocent Kaia 12; Tanatswa Bechani 2/25, Ainsley Ndlovu 1/28)
Southern Rocks won by six wickets
Tafadzwa Tsiga anchored Southern Rocks to victory with a match-winning knock of 69 not out, guiding his team past Tuskers in their final clash of the Domestic T20 Competition at Harare Sports Club on Saturday night.
After electing to bat, Tuskers found themselves in early trouble against Dylan Hondo’s fiery spell.
Hondo dismissed Tanu Makoni, Clive Madande and Milton Shumba within his first eight deliveries, reducing Tuskers to a precarious 11 for three.
However, Brian Chari and Luke Jongwe staged a remarkable recovery, putting on a 130-run partnership for the fourth wicket in 15.4 overs.
Initially cautious, the duo soon dominated the bowling attack.
Chari, who led the charge, was eventually caught for 76 off 59 balls, having struck four sixes and six fours.
Jongwe followed three balls later for a well-made 60 off 47 deliveries.
Tuskers finished on 158 for five, with Hondo returning impressive figures of three for 17.
Despite the seemingly competitive target, Rocks’ chase might have faltered had it not been for Tsiga’s composed and determined innings.
He started fluently, contributing the bulk of the runs before the second wicket fell at 62.
Roy Kaia then injected momentum with a brisk 38 off 27 balls in a 59-run stand for the third wicket.
At one stage, Rocks appeared to be falling behind the required rate, but Tsiga remained in control.
With three balls to spare, he struck the winning run, sealing victory alongside Newman Nyamhuri.
His unbeaten 69 came off 49 balls, featuring a six and five fours, capping off a fine individual performance that steered his team to triumph.
