Can Simba Bhora lift the top-flight league title?

Sitting on the top of the Castle Premier Soccer League (PSL) , Shamva based top-flight outfit Simba Bhora seems to be eyeing the title league in their second year in the league.

Simba Bhora Football club is a professional football team based in Shamva in Mashonaland central province that play in the PSL. The team nicknamed ‘Go Buju Go’ was established in the year 2008 with the aim of supporting football activities within Mashonaland central province in general and the Shamva community in particular.

The team play  its home matches in the Wadzanai stadium in Shamva. So far the team have  not tasted a defeat at home in the 2024  season.

Simba Bhora are  now 47 points from 24 games whilst second placed FC Platinum have 45 points from 24 games. The league consists of 18 teams that play 34 games meaning only ten games are left to decide the champions.


At home, Simba Bhora have nine wins and three draws out of twelve matches compared to FC Platinum with eight wins, three draws and one lose in twelve home matches. They both amassed 30 points and 27 points repectively at home. On away Simba Bhora has collected 17 points from five wins, two draws and five loses whilst FC Platinum have  eighteen points from five wins, three draws and four loses in twelve matches.

ZBC News sports editor Lawrence Trusida reported early in January that Simba Bhora was eyeing for the title.
” Simba Bhora are gunning for the league title after signing 10 new players ahead of the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season which kicks off on the 24th of February. The 10 players include 2022 Soccer Star of the Year Walter Musona and his former teammate at FC Platinum Perfect Chikwende.

Young defensive midfielder Junior Makunike has been lured from Dynamos alongside goalkeeper Timon Mvula as well as midfielder Malvin Mkolo and Billy Vheremu from Bulawayo Chiefs and shot-stopper Talbert Shumba.

This comes after Club owner Simba Ndoro stated that they are going for the league title this season”, wrote Trusida on ZBC News website.
