During a stop and search operation in the Harare CBD, a police constable who resides in Makome Epworth stationed at Mabelreign Police Station was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm.
In a Police Memorandum from Zimbabwe Republic Police Kopje to the Dispol Harare Central District, it is noted that Constable Tichaona Dube aged 31 years has been arrested for unlawful possession of firearm.
Circumstances leading to the matter are that othe 28th day of January 2024 and at around 1830 hours, ZRP Kopje patrol team comprising of three officers were on duty at corner Jason Moyo and Mbuya Nehanda Street.
“The team conducted a stop and search, the accused person fled away and the team chased after the accused person and caught him”, read the memo.
The team recovered a brown satchel containing a V Bernadelly Gardone pistol serial number 14246 , one tearsmoke carnister and a ZRP identity card in respect of number 061951M Assistant Inspector Sibungu M, from the accused person.
The accused person was arrested and detained at ZRP Harare Central cells. The pistol is being held as an exhibit. .CID Homicide team had been advised.
