What started as a community development ended up in a disaster as youthful former Avondale Athletic Football coach Knowledge Jemwa was allegedly beaten up for organising an Under-20 soccer tournament in Waterfalls.

Jemwa, an upcoming coach says he was beaten along his in-laws by suspected Zanu Pf youths wearing party regalia early this year.

Online Now News sports writer inquired about his whereabouts after noticing his absence at sporting activities.

A colleague managed to have the contacts of his female relative. The female relative on condition of anonymity asked the writer to forward questions and Jemwa replied through voice notes from undisclosed country.

He said he met his fate in Waterfalls when the ruling party supporters accused him of promoting and feeding the footballers to go and vote for the opposition CCC.

“My life is in danger as I was attacked on my way home after they bundled me in a silver Honda fit car and drove off”.

They dumped me by the roadside after I pleaded with them not to continue assaulting me”.

” I am now afraid as they also came at my place of residence and threatened me in front of my family. I made a report but no one was arrested”, said Jemwa. “, said Jemwa.

His female relative said Jemwa had to be moved to a safe house as he fears for his life.

Jemwa was heavily involed in Zimbabwean football grassroots development as he took charge of several Football Academy like Legends Football Academy, Zimbabwe Red Cross Academy and Avondale Athletic.

He coached players like Callum English Brown (Chicken in), Douglas Mapfumo (Black Leopards), Bill Antonio (Belgium ) and Tinashe Simbo (USA).

His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa has always been preaching the gospel of peace and unity before, during and after 2023 Harmonised Elections but this seems to be falling on deaf ears as political party supporters continue with their rowdy behaviours.
