Leroy Tawanda Kuimba aka “Leroy on tha Beat” is releasing his first album on 17 March and has roped in youthful artistes to give them exposure thus killing two birds with one stone.

26-year-old music producer, born and bred in Glen-Norah high density suburbs has an album with 14 songs titled “Faraway” to be released mid-March. It will be released concurrently with a video of one of the songs titled “Ngirozi”.

Kuimba said the album title Faraway is about a lover taking his partner far in terms of love to where there is peace. “It’s not about going to a faraway place but being far in love”, he said.

“They may be in Glen-Norah but their love would be the envy of many”, he added. He said it is based on his life experience and what he sees around in the community. “It is like a motivational song”, he said. Most of the songs on the album are love songs with some being motivational songs.

Talking about his entrance in the music scene, Leeroy said there are some certain circumstances one cannot run away from like Jonah in the bible who tried to ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish, down to Joppa instead of Nineveh.

“When I do music, my life flows smoothly so it is inside me because when I do other talents like playing soccer it becomes a bore’, he said. “Even my surname Kuimba portrays about singing as a respectable deed”, he added.

Leeroy Tawanda Kuimba said he has never tried drugs and understands that by being idle makes youths take drugs hence he has included other youths in his album. “With this album, am uplifting youths in the arts industry. I am working with a lot of people and I call it Producer’s album”, he revealed.

He sang some of the songs on the album with some having been done by others who are about ten of them. At Bek-ground Studios in Glen-Norah, he is a producer, musician as well as partner. “I am uplifting the youths because I have seen what is happening in the community when the youths do not have time in the studio. They end up taking drugs and they should be included to stay away from drugs”, he said.

Rocca Mucci, Star Windston, Jazz Prosper, Drew Worldwide, Lutan, Dobba Don, Vicky Bee and Pepper Man are some of  the artistes featuring on the album.

As a producer, Kuimba has worked with NAMA Awards as a sound man as well as big names like Tocky Vibes, Dobba Don, Sani Makhalima, and also hid brother the founder of Bek-ground Studios, Audinace Kuimba.

He acknowledges his managers Leroy Mupanemunda (Jeezy), Simba Muranda (Simplex), Kuda Zhemu and Audinance Kuimba for making his project possible. Lat but not least he gives thumbs up to video director Lesley Chibvuri of Lesra Films.
