Wayne Masendeke clinches the Fitness Physiques title

Wayne Masendeke emerged the overall winner in the Fitness Physiques show held at 7 Arts Avondale in the capital on Saturday, day before the World Cup final in what looked like the final tale of the football 2022 World Cup.


Masendeke who finished second in the Senior Men’s physique category and first in the Junior Men’s physique category scooped the prestigious title ahead of Senior Men’s body building winner Nunurai Masosonere and Senior Men’s physique winner Blessing Sithole.

In the football 2022 World Cup, Golden Boot for the tournament and the Golden Ball of the tournament was won by Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi respectively. In sone instances, the Golden Boot winner won the Golden Ball in football likewise in body building and fitness where the senior men winner usually wins the overall prize.

Most outstanding Male Athlete winner won the ticket to compete for international competitions in United Kingdom. He said he really felt great by winning in the show. ” I was not looking forward to this. It is s, he said.


” I really worked hard in preparing especially on diet. In my sessions, I worked hard like spending 4-5 hours in the gym”, added Masendeke. The 22- year-old came fifth in the Harare Classic and has shown signs of improvement. Royal Gym in Hillside Harare and Hunger Fitness athlete started to be in the gym three years ago.


Nunurai Masosomere who won the Senior Men’s body building said it has always been his passion to be winning. “It is my oxygen, so everytime I go on stage I know it is oxygen for me, it is life”, he said.

He said he competes against his previous self so he is winning as he see it without comparing with other athletes . He is now about to retire and is focusing on grooming upcoming athletes at his Family Fitness Gym in the central business district.

Outstanding Female Athlete Eva Madanhi with Boss Lady


Eva Madanhi who won the outstanding Female Athlete is also going to compete in United Kingdom for international shows. She said she started competing March this year in the Novice, Marume, Harare, and Zimbabwe Nationals competitions. “This is my fifth show”, she said.


Blessing Sithole won the Senior’s physique and the International Model Men . He modelled with a blue tracksuit and white colours. Even those in smart casual jeans and shirts could not outwit him. “The competition was good Winners win, that is what we do”, he said.


” I am now looking forward to do international shows. For local shows am leaving for the upcoming artists”, he said. He only competes in Men’s physique category.


Lynett Tom who won the Bikini Fitness said winning makes her happy. She has competed in the Arnold Classic an international show and some shows held in South Africa being the Summer Super Body and NPC Pro Qualifier where she won many accolades with some in different categories at one show.


Beloved George won the Men’s fitness first prize and said it was a nice and well organised competition. He also came first in the Bulawayo Classic, second in the Harare Classic and 3rd in the Zimbabwe National in the category. He is looking forward to be go international next year.


Martha Favour Ngoma who won in the Wellness category is from Lusaka, Zambia She said it was her second show in Zimbabwe. “For the Wellness category, this is my my first time”, she said.

“I am so happy to have won something in my category”, she added. She has been competing for three years and said she will continue working extra hard, win more trophies amd encourage other ladies to join.


Modest Dhlakama who won Novice female and International Female Model said she felt quite happy. “I think to say happy is understatement because it is my first time to be on the stage. I just gave it all’, said 46- year-old mother of three who is a personal trainer at her gym FatX Gym.


Simba Mhaka who was the chief judge applauded the show. “The show was extremely excellent because as for the first time having that turnout number of athletes is perfect. It was so surprising and also the order of the show was moving smoothly. All was right the audience of the day and the discpline of the athletes was quite awesome”, he said.


He encouraged body building and fitness athletes to keep on competing and work hard as a lot was coming. “We are going to have some quality shows bigger and better. He reiterated that youths should say not to drugs.


Fitness Physiques Federation chief executive officer and Fitness and Physiques show sponsor Cathy Martin affectionately knowsaid overally it was amazing. “I didn’t actually expect the turnout I got today. It was so amazing because it was my first show in Zimbabwe . I can’t wait to come back next year” she said.


She commended NFZBBF officials for gracing the show. “Body building and Fitness is not my show, your show. We are all here to support each other because all these athletes compete in our federations”, she said .

She added that at the end of the day it is body building and fitness industry that is benefitting. She was super excited that she will come next year. “I came for the show. I am going back to United Kingdom”, she said .


The Masters category was so hilarious as the 65-year-old Masiye Siwali won.
