Nomathamsanqa Phiri says qualifying for the Arnolds Classic Africa at the 2022 Zimbabwe Nationals Bodybuilding is a pinnacle in her bodybuilding career which is just one-year-old.
Miss Zimbabwe Nationals Body building and Fitness 2022 relieves her first year as a professional body builder in which she saw herself having worked so hard in winning in prestigious competitions.
The 28- year-old turned professional this year and in the 9 months of competetion scooped 2 gold medals, 1silver medal, 2 bronze medals and some shields.
Nomathamsanqa Phiri won bronze at Novice in March , the show that introduces amateurs into the professional world. She went on to scoop also bronze at the Ironman show which is a international competition. At Marume Classic later, she came second and collected the silver medal and then competed in the Harare Classic where she came first.
It is at the Zimbabwe Nationals Body building and Fitness where she had massive accomplishment which seems first of its kind in the women category for an athlete to collect so many awards in one competetion.
She won the the first prize in the Women Bikini Fitness, Outstanding female athlete, Outstanding athlete thus having 3 awards all to herself.
She qualified for the Arnolds Classic Africa in South Africa next year and also qualified for the Zimbabwe Body building and Fitness Nationals next year.
“After the Ironman, that is when I noticed that am getting better amd started putting more effort and started treating the sport in a professional way. I did my best at Marume Classic whilst it was so humbling to win at Harare Classic”, she said in an interview.
” I now had a little bit of confidence to enter the Zimbabwe Nationals I always had fear so even going to the nationals was scary to compete into”, she added.
So winning gold medal at the Harare Classic gave her some calmness.
” I enjoyed the nationals competetion. That was my debut and also the pinnacle of my career as a professional body builder now”, she said.
” It is good to know that you have accomplished such a big thing as not anyone goes to Arnolds Classic, you really have to work hard and I am blessed and graceful that I would be attending the biggest stage of Africa”, she added.
She said preparing was the challenging part as health is important because the ming need to be good for the body to respond well.
“Mental health is important so upcoming athletes should mind that. Whilst in preparation of shows, different kinds of exercises conducted can leave one having cravings that are irritable”, she revealed.
” Also one has to say focused whilst preparing because usually thoughts of food always come but one would not be starving. It is only the junks that one wants like me am a fan of sweets, cakes, chocolate and waffles but one cant have during preparation that makes it challenging”, she said.
