Palestine Ambassador Dr Tamer Almassri during the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People commemorations held in Harare on 29 November called for justice upon Palestine people oppressed by Israel through UN resolution.

Speaking at the event, Dr Tamer Almassri said on this day in 1947 United Nations (UN) without any consultation with anybody and Palestine or any consultation with any of the Arab States made a resolution, 181 that divided the wholly land of Palestine from the river Gaza to the sea West Bank into two countries, one country for Jews and the other country for the Arabs.

“A year later, Israel was invented and upto now we are looking forward to apply or to do the second part of the resolution by establishing the Arab or Palestine state”, he said.

He also said Palestine is a Arab country with people who are mostly christians and they receive Jewish immigrants who built close small communities close to them. They bulit one by one becoming the greatest occupation in the land of Palestine.

“The immigrants take advantage of the injustice in the international community to take our land. This day is a reminder that the Palestinian people are paying the cost of the the absence of justice in Palestine because UN created Israel in our land but did not apply the second part of the resolution to establish the Palestine state”, he told the media.

” This day is important to send a message to the international community and to the UN organisations all of them to stop dealing with Israel as a super power. Israel should be treated as a normal country and should be punished for ex-crimes, aggression, and apartheid regime that was built in Palestine even now in the 21st Century”, he added.

This day is a reminder that there are daily victims in Palestine. Today Israel killed two Palestine young man aged about 18 and 19. They were brothers . They were killed for no reason just because Israel soldiers want to kill”, he said.

UN resident and humanitarian coordinator Edward Kallon delivering the UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres message said UN is deeply saddened by the growing number of Palestinian civilians who have lost their lives in the spiral of violence engulfing the occupied West Bank. Each casualty fuels fear and yet more violence.

“I urge all parties to take immediate steps to reduce tensions and break this deadly cycle. The long-standing drivers of conflict-including the ongoing occupation, settlement expansion, home demolitions and evictions-heighten anger, despair, and hopelessness”, said Guterres.

” Meanwhile, Gaza continues to endure debilitating closures and humanitarian crises. I reiterate my call on the parties to engage to end the closures of Gaza and improve living conditions of all
Palestinians”, he added.

Whilst UNRWA remains a vital lifeline for Palestine refugees, the UN’s position is clear: peace must advance and the occupation must end said the UN delegate.

” We are steadfast in our commitment to realize the vision of two States that is Israel and Palestine thus living side by side in peace and security, with Jerusalem as capital of both states”, he said.
