Mark Vassilatos lifts 2022 Exodus and Company National Body Building and Fitness championships

Zimbabwe National Body Building and Fitness Championships held at 7 Arts Theatre on Saturday lived up to its billing with a grand stage as the athletes fiercely contested.

Mark Anthony Vassilatos based in South Africa is the overall winner in the Senior Men Body Building over 80kgs. Other overall winners are David Weier in the Men’s Physique and Nomathasanga.

” I lost 30 kilogrammes just to be in shape. Started to diet about ten weeks away. Today I am weighing 96 kgs. I came down from 126 kgs”, Vassilatos said as part of his preparations.


Mark Vassilatos who won the Zimbabwe Nationals 2019, Mr South Africa Victoria Falls and the Summer Bodies 2003 said he is not going to contest in the Arnold Classic in South Africa. He came first in the Senior Men Body Building over 85 kgs.

The objective of the event is to qualify athletes for international events such as Arnold Classic and World Championships. It also helps athletes gain points for sportsperson awards when names are submitted to SRC

Most Outstanding Women Nomathasanga Phiri came first in the Women Bikini Fitness. She defeated Linnety Tom and Kirsty McSorley who came second and third respectively.


“I am so happy about winning .The excitement motivates me to keep on pushing forward”, she said.


NFZBBF held its Annual General Meeting with new executive put in place and other positions to be appointed or voted for.

Aaron Musarurwa continues to soar high by scooping gold in the Junior Men Body Building category and taking silver in the Senior Men Body Building upto and including 85 kgs. Around 20 athletes who will go and compete in South Africa in May next year for the Arnold Classic show.


“I am very happy about perfoming so well Will compete for the first time in the Arnold Classic competitons”, he said.

said body building is growing up in Zimbabwe compared to the past yeaars in the late 90’s.


Athletes will battle it out for US$12 000 in prize money, medals and certificates.
