Ribexy FC clinch Danckwets and Butler Cup

It was a hive of activity in Goromonzi South on Saturday as a six-team tournament took place with Ribexy FC emerging the winner in a tense competition.

The matches were played at Danckwets pitch and Butler pitch with 3 teams involved in a round robin tournament before 2 top teams in each group proceeded to play in the semi-finals.


At Danckwets pitch, the three teams Danckwets Madhara, WLM and Danckwets FC draw all their games 1 all. Danckwets Madhara first played with WLM and drew 1 all before Danckwets FC 1 clashed with WLM and also drew 1-1. The last game was between Danckwets FC 1 and Danckwets Madhara and they drew 1 all.

At Butler pitch, the three teams were Ribexy FC, Hamilton FC and Bobobo FC. Ribexy won all their two games 2-0 against Hamilton FC and 1-0 against Bobobo FC. The other teams Bobobo FC and Hamilton FC drew 1 all.

Danckwets FC and WLM proceeded to the semi-finals in their group after penalties whilst Ribexy and Bobobo in their group proceeded to the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, Ribexy beat Danckwets 2-1 whilst MLM beat Bobobo 3-0. In the final Ribexy outwitted MLM 2-0 to lift the cup.

Nyasha Ribexy Chireshe the owner of Ribexy FC and also a player was happy with the victory.
“We are very happy about what transpired . There was no fight and the people finished the games well. The people are improving amd loving the sport. They are cooperating and they were no imbibers around”, Chireshe said.


” We are very happy as a team for winning. The youth are improving with some teams being established. Others are willing to be involved in the tournaments but the problem is that they don’t have football kits even soccer jerseys. So we are wishing if we find sponsorship so that many people can be helped to change their bad habits through football”, he added.


One red card and nineteen yellow cards were accumulated with two penalties conceeded. Their theme was “Fair play, without fear and favour, say no to violence and say no to drugs”.
