There was a record attendance at Castle Lager Nation Braai Day at Old Hararians Sports Club on a Saturday with some meat lovers failing to get their free braai packs.
Multitude of people thronged the event were barbeque, ice cold beer and music was the order of magnitude.
It was such a nice time as the DJs and artistes entertained the crowd who could be seen happy forgetting their miseries. From late morning till dawn Old Hararians Sports Club was rocking as people danced in a lively way.
Although the sun was already blazing in the late morning, imbibers and meat lovers were enjoying the event sipping their favourite beers and eating meat barbequed by Castle Lager sitting in shades.
The record breaking crowd showed that Zimbabweans are civilized as no altercations transpired and ladies not accompanied by male counterparts managed to enjoy without any provocation.
In the afternoon, the sports club was filled with some enjoying the show sitting at terraces far from the stage.
Enzo I Shall send the crowd in a frenzy as the crowd sang alongside him and in a jovial mood.
“The event was nice, I enjoyed it only am one of those who didn’t manage to get their free braai packs”, said a young man from Glen-View high density suburb on condition of annoymity. “There were long queues were we were supposed to collect our free braai packs so I believe they were in short due to the number of many people who attended”, he added.
The unavailability of free braai packs didn’t go well with some revellers but this didnot deter them from enjoying themselves.
Dancers were on their feet all night enjoying the music on a warm night. The musicians who performed are Enzo I Shall, Freeman, Nutty O and Winky D who closed the event.
Zimbabweans seem to have a taste of fashion as some ladies and gentlemen who attended were dressed immaculately in bum shorts and casual trousers respectively and that made everyone geared for fun.
Trasnport was not a problem after the show as some drove their cars back home whilst public transport ferried the merry makers into town not charging exorbitant fares. Even finding transport back to one’s home in town was not a problem.
Some revellers extended a helping hand by paying for the whole passengers in a commuter omnibus before the conductor had collected the money.
The show portrayed that irrespective of one’s social background, Zimbabweans have time to be happy celebrating in unity.
All the artists perfomed par excellence.
