It will be all systems go in the Castle Premier Soccer League Matchday 29 assignments over the weekend as top teams will be battling for the top four spot and those below will be fighting relegation as the season nears end.
The most captivating matches will be between Highlanders at home against FC Platinum on Sunday, Manica Diamonds vs Dynamos at Sakubva Stadium on Sunday, Caps United vs Triangle at National Sports Satdium, Black Rhinos vs Harare City who are fighting relegation at Vengere Stadium on Saturday and Whawha bottom placed against Bulawayo Chiefs at Ascot Stadium on Saturday.
Yadah hosts Tenax at National Sports Stadium on Friday. Yadah is in good form after beating Caps United 1-0 in Matchday 28. Tenax may find the going tough as it is away although it is fighting relegation hard. It trounced Harare City 1-0 on Matchday 28. The teams are positioned on number 11 and 15 respectively.
Black Rhinos will lock horns against Harare City at Vengere Stadium on Saturday. Black Rhinos drew 1-1 in their last match away against ZPC Kariba. Harare City was defeated 1-0 away by Tenax. Black Rhinos is on the 8th position whilst Harare City is on the 16th position. The latter will surely come into the game well prepared as it is the relegation zone.
Ngezi Platinum will square off against ZPC Kariba at Boabab Stadium. Ngezi Platinum on the 5th position is fighting to be in the top four whilst ZPC Kariba is on the 14th position and needs a favourable result so that it do not get in the relegation zone. Ngezi Platinum dismissed Dynamos 0-1 away in Matchday 28 whilst ZPC Kariba was held by Black Rhinos at home.
Herentals will be at home against Cranborne Bullets at National Sports Satdium on Saturday. Herentals has played well this season as it is on 7th position as has already avoided relaxation. It is smarting from a 1-0 away defeat by Triangle away in the last match.Cranbirne Bullets who came from the Division 1 this has played so well as it is on 12th position. It held Highlanders 1-1 in their last match at home.
Bulawayo City and Chicken Inn will play against each other on Saturday Barbour fields Stadium. Chicken Inn second on the log with 51 points needs to win the game as it has 10 points being by log leaders FC Platinum. Bulawayo City is second from last with 24 points and a win is suitable to them.
At Ascot Stadium, Whawha entertains Bulawayo Chiefs on Saturday. Whawha is siting on the bottom of the log with 20 points whilst Bulawayo Chiefs is positioned 10th with 39 points. Bulawayo Chiefs outclassed Manica Diamonds in the last match 1-0 at home.
On Sunday, Highlanders will be home at Barbour fields Stadium against FC Platinum. The two giants of football will have to remove complacency as the game will be tense. Highlanders need to show their supporters that even if it didn’t manage to lift the league, it is a force to reckon by defeating log leaders FC Platinum. FC Platinum will take the game seriously because if Chicken Inn wins and it loses, the gap will be closing for the title race.
Manica Diamonds and Dynamos FC is a must to watch. Manica Diamonds have played well this season and if Dynamos do not take them serious they may lose the match. Dynamos on 50 points is eying the second place on the log where Chicken Inn has 51 points. The match is very much unpredictable.
Caps United will face off with Triangle at National Sports Stadium on Sunday. Caps United on 23th position found the going tough for the title race but do not look like steam going into the relegation zone at 13th position. Triangle on the 6th position will be a hurdle for Caps United to go past.
