Schools have not listened to the Government directive that allows students to attend lessons even if they have not paid school fees with form fours and sixes bearing the brunt.
Early Thursday morning around 8:00 am, some students at Kwayedza High School in Highfield Harare are milking at the school gate as the security officer asks for school fees receipts for them to enter school gate.
This has become the order of the day in many schools although the government said that non-paying students should be allowed to attend lessons and pay later.
“We are not being allowed to enter the school gate because we have not yet paid our school fees for the third term and the security officer is asking for the school fees receipts at the gate”, said a Kwayedza High School pupil on condition of annoymity.
“The form fours are about to write their Ordinary Level exams so the school head want to make sure the fees are up to date before they write their exams”, added the student.
Nowadays students can access their results through digital platforms so it is no longer easy for schools to with hold a student’s results due to non-payment of school fees.
Whilst minster of Primary and Secondary Education Prof, Mavima castigated the practice of sending away students, this has fallen on deaf ears.
