Load shedding and power cuts by Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority will be things of the past in agricultural colleges as the solarisation program for agricultural colleges was launched in Mazowe recently.
Deputy minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development Davis Marapira launched the solarisation program at Mazowe Agriculture College on 15 September.
“The President, His Excellency Dr E.D. Mnangagwa’s transformation vision of achieving a prosperous and empowered upper middle income society by 2030 is largely powered by development that leaves “no one and no place behind”, he said.
“My Ministry’s eco-chamber strategy is development that ” no household and no village behind”, anchored on the Agriculture and Food Systems Transformation Strategy and National Development Strategy 1″, he added.
“The launch of the Agriculture Colleges Solarisation Program today at Mazowe Veterinary College is a continuation of Government support towards adoption of climate smart technologies in agriculture”, said Marapira.
The ministry expects the college to benefit through reduction of power cuts, consistent power supply, consistent supply of water for college operations, and projects as well as well lit-premise during night providing a safe and secure environment for both people and college assets.
With the quest to reinvent business models in value addition and climate change, African Renaissance Sustainable Development is committed to accelerating results for climate tediliencee contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal number 23, Climate Change Resilience, through an engagement with agro business.
The solarisation program is in line with Sustainable Development goal No. 2, No poverty, Goal 7, affordable and clean energy, and other goals as the goals are intertwined.
