True Beauty from a small stable galloped home first in the Castle Tankard 2022, 63 edition an event that Mashonald Turf Club (MTC) deputy chairperson described as fantastic after a two- year absence due to COVID-19 pandemic.

True Beauty struggled stiff competition as his connections, the owner, trainer and jockey walked away with US$25 000 for themselves.

The jockey Dennis Schwartz was happy with the outcome as his smiling face could not hide how joyous he was when he received the trophy.

Thomas Mason the trainer said he was exhilarated by the results. “It was a good ending for us and would like to thank our sponsors and organizers for such a wonderful race”, said Mason.

Kirsty Stidolph, MTC deputy chairperson said the return of Castle Tankard is fantastic and was full of surprise. “I would like to thank our sponsors Delta through their brand Castle Lager for bringing back the race when their business was on recession due to COVID-19 pandemic”, said Stidolph.

“The race had a surprise as the winner True Beauty is from a small stable compared to other stables with many horses”, she added.

Only Him being rode by Keamen Steyn came second and their yard pocketed  $ 12 000 USD whilst  Kabelo Matsunyane came third riding Holy Land and the yard got $7 500 USD.

Wantage from  the Bridget Stidolph stable whose jockey was Teague Gould came fourth and they b got $5 000 USD.

The event was a crowd puller and lived up to the billing.
