Chakawuya clinches 2022 Trysupps Novice title

Tsungirai Chakawuya shrugged off stiff competition to win the 2022 Trysupps Novice Championship title at Zimbabwe College of Music on Saturday.

2022 Mr and Miss Novice Championships lived up to expectations as 50 athletes battled it out in different categories. The main sponsor Trysupps pledged to sponsor it again next year for the second time after a spectacular event on Saturday.

Tsungirai Chakawuya emerged the winner in the Senior Men’s category which was competed by 12 athletes. Top six athletes in many categories were recognised by National Federation of Zimbabwe Body Building and Fitness (NFZBF) whilst Trysupps sponsored the prizes for the top three which comprised of supplements,certificates and shield medals.

Chakawuya was left an elated man after outwitting other athletes.”I am now setting my focus on Mr Ironman scheduled for May in Kadoma” he said. He praised his coach Donald Teguru and Pastor Lawson for being supportive during preparations for the show.

Exsevoir Dzvene from Family Fitness Gym in Harare came second. ” It shows that I have the potential”, he told the media. He also thanked the support he got from his coach Nunurai “Shumba” Masosonere.
On the third position was Kudakwashe Nhema of Bodyworks Gym in Bulawayo.
Nhema revealed tha he started body building soon after completing secondary school studies.

All the categories lined up had athletes showing scintillating perfomance as the athletes gave each other a run for the money. The athletes showcased fitness and posed in order for the body parts to be judged well.

The categories were the Men’s Physique Open, Senior Men, Women Fitness Development, Men’s Fitness and Junior Men Body Building.

In the Men’s Physique Open , 17 athletes participated and the judges had a torrid time to select the champions. The athletes were well prepared for the event.

Zvidzai of Knox Fitness Centre in Malbereign came first followed by Vincent Muzheri of Awesome Gym Club in Zvishavane and Innocent of Fitness First in Harare was sitting on the third spot.

NFZBF secretary general Quiet Shangai said the event was well attended like a prestgious event for example Mr Ironman.
“This edition had many participants than the previous editions”, he said.” One would have thought that it was Mr Ironman by the number of athletes who turned up and its a remarkable achievement”, he added.

Trysupps Fitness Academy managing director Ryan Tinotenda Gumbo said he was humbled to see the upcoming athletes showing passion for the sport by coming out in numbers to participate in the championships.
“This was a phenomenal as we were not expecting such turn out”, he said. “As a sponsor am so excited that these athletes have respect of the championships were most of champions in body building came from”, he added.
He also stressed that body building was a good career that also helps youth to desist from drugs.
“We are looking forward to see the athletes develop their career in body building”, he said.
“The line ups and everything was one of the best we had in the Novice books.

He promised that next year he will sponsor again and hopes to do more than this year as he has gained some exprience.

The theme for Mr and Miss Novice is “The Future”.
