Former Dynamos player Isaac Nhema passed away at Sally Mugabe Hospital Tuesday morning after suffering from a minor stroke.
Isaac Nhema joined Dynamos in1970 as a right back defender and went into retirement around 1979.
He played in the 70’s alongside the late George Shaya, the late Simon Sachiti, the late Shadreck Ngwenya, Ernest Kamba and David George to mentin but a few.
Former Dynamos coach and player David George said Nhema was very passionate about football.” He was always hardworking even at the training as his tackles thwarted us strikers to score goals”, he said in Glen- Norah.” Iam very sad to lose such a figure whom I took as a brother and I joined Dynamos whilst he was there and retired after he had retired”, he added.
With Dynamos he won several trophies. He was born in June 1948.
“It’s a great loss to the Glen-Norah community , he was a father,mentor, man of reality and a teacher.It’s also a great loss to the Dynamos club which has lost now 5 legendaryb player in the year 2021”, said Rodwell “Ghetto” Mpariwa, former Black Aces player who resides in Glen- Norah.
This year Dynamos club lost George Shaya,Misheck Marimo,David Mandigora, Simon Sachiti and the deceased Isaac Nhema.
After his retirement in playing football he coached Zimphos and was an assistant to Cremio Mapfumo at Dynamos .
He was also a class 1 driver who worked at various instituitions Zimphos, Chinhoyi Primary and Zimplats.At the time of his death, he was farming in Chinhoyi.
His young brother Lovemore Nhema who also played at Dynamos confirmed that he is to be buried at Zororo Memorial Cemetery in on Thursday.
He is survived by his wife Lydia Bingadadi, 5 children 2 boys and 3 girls and 9 grandchildren.
