The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has issued a press statement titled “For the record”, rectifying some parts of a news article which disseminated that the bank had plans to introduce Z$100 and Z$ 200 bank notes Tuesday.
A news article in the Zimpapers’ Sunday Mail last editon reported that RBZ is going to introduce Z$50 with plans to introduce the $Z100 and Z$200.However the bank says it will only introduce the Z$50 bank notes and has no plans to introduce the Z$100 and Z$200 bank notes.
In a press statement ZBZ Governor John Mangudya said, “The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe( the Bank) is working on the introduction of a Z$50 bank note into the market for the convenience of the public “.
“For the time being,the Bank has no plans of introducing Z$100 and Z$200 bank notes as suggested in some sections of the media” added Mangudya.
