
After a 8 year hiatus, Harare Classic a bodybuilding and fitness contest is returning and has been scheduled for 12th of December at Zimbabwe College of Music.
“Harare Classic previously Harare is returning after a 8 year hiatus.We last had Harare on the 18th of August 2012 at Reps Theater in the Capital”, revealed National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness secretary general Quiet Shanghai.
Due to Covid-19 induced lockdown , activities in the fraternity had been put on halt and this contest is the major attraction for the year.
“The event (Harare)had been stopped primarily due to financial challenges.It had been difficult to raise the much needed resources. So this year we challenge every Hararean who is a fitness enthusiast to come on board and revive Harare because we need critical mass in terms of athletes”, said Shangai.
Athletes who won at the last edition are Partson Chatedzuka who won the Senior men bodybuilding overall, Uniformed forces open bodybuilding and Senior men bodybuilding heavy weight division, Simbarashe Fero in the Senior men bodybuilding heavy weight division, Eliah Samaringa in the Senior men bodybuilding light weight division, Christine Matange in the Women bodybuilding( the division was superseded Women Physique at amateur level,Munyaradzi “Hakeem” Mandaza Men’s Physique division, Craig Ushe in the Men’s fitness division and Nigel Maphosa in the junior men bodybuilding division.
“I urge bodybuilders who wish to perform well on stage to seek guidance from coaches with regards to nutrition, training as well as show prep and posing.Discipline, focus and determination are key ingredients .Any body builder no matter gifted one is, without key ingredients , he/she will quit as a wannabe”, he said.
