
Going about their routines during the just ended 21-days lockdown period, Zimbabweans hoped that the lockdown period could not be extended as this would leave them unable to be resilient.

The first week of the 21-days lockdown peroid was harsh to many but with the Government mitigations put in place, there had been a step-change.The opening of the money transfer services and the farmer’s markets was a sigh of relief to many in the second week of the lockdown period nationwide.
The informal and the citizens in Zimbabwe has suffered a large dent due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic which has paralysed many activities globally.The 21- days lockdown period which ended this Sunday and extended by President Mnangagwa for 2 weeks starting Monday has left many jeopardised.
In an interview, many concurred that they will not be able to compensate for the lost time as the lockdown has been extended.However the people are just considering the financial aspect at the expense of their health.
It will have been inconsiderate for Government to end the shutdown as they have to put safety of the people first.
Last Friday ,The Herald had the headlines screaming that His Excellency President Mnangagwa was worried about the daily increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.
The people’s plight may seem unbearable but there is more to it than what meets the eye as far as Covid-19 is concerned.Precautionary measures need to be adhered to.Zimbabwe has recorded more than 20 cases of people affected by the novel virus and 3 deaths.
“It was not proper to end the lockdown swiftly as the cases are rising”, Charles Chiyangwa told SportWay newsnet.
As William Shakespeare elaborated in his book Julius Caesar that “Cowards die many time before their deaths”, so people need to be strong and bold in the wake of the novel virus that has ravaged the world at a fast rate.
