With the 2020 Castle Premier Soccer League season round the corner, ZIFA has agreed to the use of six stadiums which are deemed fit for the top flight league.

In a letter to the PSL Chief Executive Officer Kennedy Ndebele, ZIFA revealed that six stadiums in Zimbabwe have already been approved to host 2020 PSL matches.

“The Zimbabwe Football Association hereby informs your esteemed office that the following stadiums have been provisionally homologated by the First Instance Body for the 2020 season”, reads the letter.

The 6 stadia are Gibbo stadium in Triangle, Vhengere stadium in Rusape, Barbourfields stadium in Bulawayo, Luveve stadium in Bulawayo, Mandava stadium in Zvishavane and Baobab stadium in Mhondoro.

Stadia around the Capital city have not been given the green light due to renovations taking place. Public outcry over the dilapidating of stadia around the country forced the Harare City Council to start renovate Gwanzura and Rufaro whilst the CAF ban on local stadia to host international matches also led to renovations at National Sports Stadium.

The letter also indicated that they will be re- inspection of other stadiums not yet approved.

“For re-inspection of other stadiums the procedure is as follows

  1. Recommendations from the First Instance Body (FIB) stadium report should be adhered to.
  2. Pictures and progress report should be sent first.
  3. FIB will assess whether to send an inspection team or not.

Nyamhunga stadium in Kariba and Sakubva stadium in Mutare are also not on the homologated stadia list.
