The South African Premier Soccer League has been suspended and the announcement was made by PSL chairman Irvin Khoza after an emergency meeting held on Monday.
The League, including all member clubs, convened at their headquarters on Monday to discuss the declaration of president Cyril Ramaphosa that the COVID-19 pandemic is a national disaster.
A provisional decision has since been taken, with the announcement that fixtures for the immediate future have all been postponed until a Board of Governors meeting is held on Thurday.
“Games played tomorrow and Wednesday, and on the weekend are all suspended. There will be a follow up meeting on Thursday, 19 March to discuss the developments,” said Khoza.
The BOG meeting will address the issues and challenges the season may face should the virus not be contained.
