
The Minister of Youth, Sports,Arts , and Recreation,Dr Kirsty Coventry has commended the sporting sector for making strides in sport development by hosting international events that highlights International Diplomacy.
Speaking at the launch of the Africa Sporting Shooting Championships, and the Africa Compak Sporting which will be held at Elephant Hills in Victoria Falls next week, Minister Coventry said,“It is our considered view that hosting these events on Zimbabwean soil underlines the strides taken by the country in sport development.’’
She told the media on Wednesday in the capital that it was pleasing as Zimbabwe in the month of February to manage hosting 3 prestigious international events.
“The Ministry of Youth, Spots , Arts and Recreation is pleased to present to the nation the hosting of the major sporting events in the month of February namely the African Sporting Championships, the African Championship of Compak Sporting and the Bonaqua Toutbeck (ATU) Triathlon African Cup”, she said.
The Troutbeck (ACT) Triathlon African Cup is to be held 22 February in Nyanga and will have ten nations from various parts of the globe participating.
The African Sporting Shooting Championships and the African Championships of Compak Sporting will be held in Victoria falls concurrently from 24th to 29th this month and will be represented by different nations including Britain and United States.
