
Despite going down 2-0 to Botswana in an under 17 World Cup qualifier Sunday, Mighty Warriors coach has called hats off to the young Mighty Warriors.
Under 17 Mighty Warriors were beaten at Babourfields in a match that was a marvel to watch as the former displayed skills that can be matched to local PSL play.
The crowd was captivated throughout the match by the way the girls played as in passing each other the ball and dribbling although they lacked confidence when it came to scoring.
After an all nil first half, Botswana scored on the 59th minute before sealing the victory with a counter attack.
The young Warriors play could be equated to that of the senior Mighty Warriors although they lacked composure.
In the first leg, the young Mighty Warriors were beaten 5-0 away in Botswana.
Young Mighty Warriors capatin NokukhanyaNdlovu had pulsating play as she dribbled past the opponents.
Speaking to Classic 263 after the match,Mighty Warriors coach Sithethelelwe Sivanda commended the under 17 team.
“Overally , it’s a good show by Zimbabwe of cause.Obviously it is not a good scoreline we have but we cann’t take anything from these kids” she said.
“They gave their own.This is the first time of having the under 17s competing at this level”, she added.
“Football is a process, it was not going to happen over just one game.They need to being these matches so that they can develop”, she revealed.
“You can see when comparing our team with the Botswana team that the Botswana team is all about team work, it is not that they are far much better than us but it all about team work.So it is all about exposure at the end of the day” she said.
Botswana side is said to have started paying together since they were under 15s , 2 years ago while the Zimbabwe side had only 2 weeks to prepare.
