
International Triathlon Union has released the dates of the annual 2020 Troutbeck ATU Sprint Triathlon Africa Cup and Junior Africa Cup scheduled for Troutbeck Inn Resort, Nyanga, Zimbabwe.
The events have been penciled for Saturday 22 February 2020 with international athletes arriving on the 20th and course familiarization is to be held on Friday 21st.The triathletes will battle it out in swimming, biking and running events. They will be four categories which are Elite Men, Elite Women, Junior Men and Junior Women.
The course for all the categories will be the same.In the swim event they will be one lap of 750 meters. The bike event has 3 laps of 6.6 kilometers on a hilly platform and technical there is no requirement though for gear or cassette changes. The gradient will be 16% and the road will be closed for safety reasons.The run event has 2 laps of 2.5 kilometers on a hilly platform. The gradient will be 90% pavement and 10% grass.
Carol Pakenham triathlon local administrator at Zimbabwe Triathlon Association confirmed that as usual there is no prize money allocation for the Junior African Cup but only for the Elite Women and Men.
The registration fee for the athletes is USD50 and the prize money is USD3 000 split between Men and Women.
Prize money will be distributed in descending order.
1st USD 750 Men and Women
2nd USD 450 Men and Women
3rd USD 300 Men and Women
