Sports fans will be in for a treat as a sport channel will be among the news channels to be introduced by Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation after the completion of the digital migration.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Nick Mangwana said this during the question and answer session at the 2019 Annual Media Stakeholders’ Conference held at a hotel in the capital city Thursday.
Mr Mangwana said the diversity of channels will help in the freedom of media as they will be a spectrum channel to carry a variety of content and then news and current affairs, sports, music, tourism and nature channels The conference was hosted by Media Alliance Zimbabwe and partners.
The introduction of a sport channel will help fans not aligned to the editorial policy of ZBC to enjoy sport free from political news.
Mr Mangwana’s speech was on “Government’s vision,work plan and timeliness on media law and policy reforms”, with the conference held under the theme #media freedom.
Also present at the conference or giving speeches were media gurus like Geoff Nyarota a veteran journalist,Foster Dongozi Zimbabwe Union of Journalists,Ernst Mudzengi Media Center,Wisdom Mudzungairi Alpha Media, Thembisa Fakude Al-Jazeera and Kajsa Tornroth a Swedish journalist.
