What’s in a name? Elvis

Warriors stand-in goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze had porous hands in a Total Afcon match against DRC

All the Group A teams at the Total Afcon 2019 have been eliminated with the some quarter finalists already waiting and for Zimbabwe the name Elvis is unbearable.

The name Elvis ‘s meaning originally is uncertain but may be from the Scandavian meaning which means all -wise.

But how can the wise make blunders when the team needed him most.
The late Elvis Presley was the king of rock and roll but in 1947, a local radio show offered a young Elvis (age 12) a chance to sing live on air, but he was shy to go on.

The same scenario in Elvis Presley ‘s life at 12 can be equated to the show by Elvis Chipezeze the stand-in goalkeeper for the Warriors at the Afcon.
After having stopped the African Messi from scoring as Salah was kept at bay in a game the Warriors player against Egypt, Chipezeze was given the preference to play against DRC as the first choice goalkeeper Chigova was in pain and the former failed dismally.
So can we say people called Elvis are good but sometimes when you bank on them, they can have stage fright and disappoint.

Although Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa took the blame for the team’s failure ,a reasonable person would not have argued about Chipezeze featuring for the DRC tie as like young Elvis Presley he had shown his mettle.
