Foreign athletes for JM Busha 54 Races

JM Busha 54 Races Zimbabwe coordinator, Pamela Makanjera has
warned local athletes to brace themselves as foreign athletes will
take part in the 3 rd edition of the games on 25 May in Harare,
Saturday.
Coach Nelson Mrashani for the second time will be bringing to the
races his Kenyan team. He will bring 5 runners. Last year he
brought 8 Kenyan athletes and a lady, Jennifer Koech scooped the
top prize in the 54 km race. This year the 54 km race category has
been reduced to 21 km and a 1.6 km race for young runners has
been added. The latter race has been added in a bid to encourage
younger generation to participate without jeopardising their
careers in the long run.
JM Busha 54 Races celebrates Africa Day with various sporting
activities in their endeavour to promote peace and unity in Africa
through sport. They are striving to have the event in all the 54
African countries.
“Locals should brace themselves for the Kenyans run well”, said
the coordinator in an interview.
This year the races running under the theme “Step up to peace”
are being staged in 3 countries namely Eswatini (formerly
Swaziland), South Africa and Zimbabwe. Eswatini already held
their event last Saturday which had golf, marathon, netball and
tennis competitions.

Zimbabwe has golf, cycling and marathon competitions whilst
South Africa has marathon relay competition on Africa Day.
Zimbabwe races are 21km Half Marathon, 10 km juniors and
seniors, 5.4km fun run and 1.6 km for 7 to 13 year olds at Alex
Sports Club on Saturday. Cycling will be held at Africa Unity
Square on 25 May whereas ProAm Golf invitational is at Wingate
Golf Club penciled on 23-24 May.
Total prizes for the 2019 is RTGS$60 500 and the top prize is
RTGS$3 000.
