Net One brightens up PSL

Zimbabwe telecommunications service provider Net One ‘s incentives to the top flight football league has brought more spark to the league with more goals scored than last season and clean sheets depicted.

On Match Day 1 , 22 goals were scored compared to last year’s 17 on the same match day. Also teams like Chapungu won on a wide margin of 5-0 against Bulawayo Chiefs , with their goal keeper reluctant to concede a goal.

At the launch of their sponsorship to four PSL teams last Friday, Net One included incentives for players.The incentives ranged from every goal scored by a player in a single game,brace in one match by the same player, hat- tricks in one match by single the player to goal keeper not conceding to a goal over five consecutive games.

Also on the launch, the Net One chief executive officer bemoaned poor performance by teams they were sponsoring.”Last season the teams we sponsored did not perform as expected and this year we are hoping for better fortunes”, he said.

The results of the Match day 1 portrays that the players have taken heed of the CEO ‘s words and better fortunes are being highlighted.Caps United won against Manica Diamonds with a clean sheet of 2-0, the same scoreline was achieved by 3 teams , FC Platinum trouncing Harare City 2-0, Dynamos dismissing Mushowani Stars 2-0 and Hwange outclassing Yadah 2-0. All nil draw between Herantals and Telone showed that the goal keepers had something to achieve.

Goals scored as Black Rhinos drew 1 all against Highlanders, Chicken Inn thrashed ZPC Kariba 3-1 whilst Triangle United beat Ngezi Platinum 2-1.
