Sunday Chidzambwa will lead the Warriors for the second time at the biennial event. The match which was a marvel to watch kicked off with the hosts aggressively attacking. True to the coach’s words earlier on, the team played an attacking game.
The opening goal was a well taken free kick by the hot Khama Billiat . Captain Musona capitalised on the complacency of the visitor’s defender to nail home a loose ball in the 34th minute.
Zifa president Felon Kamambo revealed after the match that the Warriors had promised at least to reach the quarter finals at the event to be held in Egypt in June and July this year.
“Although we needed at least a draw to qualify, the Warriors promised the win the match at all costs. Now that they showed they mean business, it is left to us the administration to roll out our plan to help them at the tournament”, said ecstatic Kamambo after the match.
“The Warriors promised also that they will reach the quarter finals which is comforting and is making us happy, revealed the Zifa president who assumed office this year.
