
First of its kind in terms of number of teams participating, the inaugural Under-16 COPA Coca-Cola Africa Cup of Nations football tournament kicked off today in Kenya in Nakuru County.

The continental tournament which brings together players from 12 African countries has been modelled to the Africa Cup of Nations. The countries are: Angola, Malawi, Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa and Kenya.
According to hapakenya.com , Coca-Cola has partnered with Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) to manage the tournament.
The 12 team championship has 4 groups of 3 teams each. Zimbabwe is pooled in Group B alongside Nigeria and Zambia in the boys category .
Group A has Kenya Ethiopia and Botswana. .Group C is composed of Uganda, Malawi and Mozambique. While, the last group (D) has Angola, South Africa and Tanzania
The winners from each group will qualify for the quarter finals slated for Thursday 13th December, 2018. Semis will be staged on Friday and finals on Saturday 15th December, 2018.
In the girls category, Kenya is represented by Moi Girls High school, Nangili, and are scheduled to face Zimbabwe girls today.
