In 2017, a Premiership tie between the two rivals was abandoned when assistant referee Thomas Kusosa allowed a Christian Epoupa goal, deemed to have been scored from an offside position by Bosso fans to stand. The match was abandoned after a crowd trouble emanated.
In 2014, The Herald had the sports headlines screaming “This is unacceptable”. In the story, it is mentioned that violence erupted in the wake of Highlanders’ 0-1 defeat at the hands of bitter rivals Dynamos. The violence claimed the life of a Bosso fan Thembelenkosi Hlosi. His death came exactly 10 years after Dynamos fan Stanford Nhau popularly known as “Taribo West” died after injuries sustained in another violent clash by fans at Barbourfields.
It is against this back ground of violent matches that the Bosso administration will be conducting a a road show as mentioned in their tweet.
Let’s Do this! Join us for our #FillUpBF & #NoToHooliganism road show this Saturday. The show starts at 9am at Highlanders FC Offices along Robert Mugabe Rd, between 3rd & 4th Ave. The Map will be shared in due coarse. Football is not war, but a family sport!
The tweet was meet with mixed feelings among Bosso fans who believe that the referees were the chief culprits through bad officiating.
‘Indeed it is a sport governed by rulesd.tell the refs to respect the rule” tweeted a Boss fan in reply to Bosso’s above tweet.
Highlanders administration remained adamant that hooliganism should be shunned.”We all hope for good match officiating, but poor match officiating should not be used to justify hooliganism”, replied the Highlanders administration through twitter.
