Prince Edward were disqualified in the semi- finals against Pamushana High School at the 2018  Copa Coca – Cola national finals  recently in Zvishavane as they were leading 1-0 in the 2nd half.

Pamushana High School trailing behind  scored what could be an equalizer had the  referee  not ruled striker. The referee’s decision  was to the chagrin of Pamushana High School supporters and staff who opposed the referee’s decision of no goal. The referee later on said it was a score and that he had made a mistake to the disadvantage of Prince Edward School.

Overwhelming fans may have made the referee to change his mind in anticipation for  the match to progress. However the match was abandoned as  Prince Edward School coaching staff refused  to budge on the on- side decision.

Gilbert Phiri a junior  coach gracing the event as  Copa Coca- Cola brand ambassador had no kind words to  what transpired.”It was great embarrassing in front of sponsors. The referee said it was off side  but Pamushana refused,  hence the referee awarding it a score to reduce calamity”, he revealed to SportWay.

” Prince Edward could have played with Guinea Fowl in the final thereby winning the Copa Coca- Cola trophy”, he added.

He also concurred with other sports administrators that the physical vetting was overdue and players should provide birth certificates and grade seven results slips.”If players cheat, they will be caught when taking passports as they may be selected in the dream team”, he said.
