
Individuals and schools which topped in the 2018 editon Copa Coca- Cola Under – 15 boys and girls soccer provincial finals countrywide were rewarded for their efforts as the race for this year’s national champions gathers momentum.
Copa is the Spanish word for “cup’ and in Mexico the international health and fitness program began in 15 years ago.Locally the program started 30 years ago for the boys and 8 years ago for the girls. Copa Coca -Cola internationally not only helps in young people staying active and healthy but it also offers the promise of capitulating talented players into the national limelight.
In Zimbabwe, the objective of Copa Coca- Cola include inspiring young footballers to achieve their dreams through competition by providing a global platform,camaraderie and opportunity for talented individuals to showcase their talent.
It is against this background that saw individual players who excelled in different categories being honored with money and best schools in the provincial finals .Individual prizes were for the top goal scorer, best goal keeper and player of the tournament for both boys and girls categories.
The prizes instill competition among youths in the competition and incentives for teachers to built better teams for the competition in the upcoming year.Individual players walked away with $20 whilst schools got from $110 downwards to $35 due to their positions.
