The saying ,” It is no disgrace to start all over. It is an opportunity”by George Matthew Adams literally made the day at the 2018 Dairibord Schools Rugby Festival primary schools day as the young kids showed zeal and zest to lift the trophy with Highlands Primary School clinching it for the 3rd consecutive time.
Blakiston Primary School walked away with the bronze medal whilst Chipindura Primary School from Bindura came third and was awarded the silver medal.
Highlands coach Passion Kamwemba said”The game was fine but we had hiccups here and there. Our tough match was against Moffat which we edged 26-24″. He revealed that during the game against Moffat , they had a slow start but told his boys to play the running world class players game. Many were left dumbfounded when Highlands made a comeback in a match that Moffat showed an upper hand.
‘I give credit to Tafadzwa Tigere,Ralph Tekede and their captain Tawanda Chisungo although all in all the whole team played well”. They never played individual rugby”, he added.
Steve Muchenurwa, Chipindura Primary coach was left in a jovial mood after the matches as they surpassed their previous outcomes.”In the first year, we were beaten in the semi- finals, the 2nd year we were knocked out in the group stages.Surely we have improved”, he said.
Steve Muchenurwa encouraged coaches to use the right aged players.”Age cheating is not good for coaches because one will not know where his weakness is.Give the right kid a chance to play and be the next beast”, he added.
