56 golfers make the cut at Old Mutual Zim Open

Enter a JC Ritchie maintains lead on Old Mutual Zim Open

56 golfers managed the level par after the second round at the Old Mutual Zim Open Golf tournament current underway in Harare with five local golfers also making the cut on Friday.

South Africa’s JC Ritchie is leading the pack  at under 13 par having made 6 under par in the 1st round and 7 under par in the 2nd round.J Ahlers with B Easton are tied on the second on 8 under and both are South Africans.V Groenewald is trailing on the fourth position  on 137 points thus 9 under par.

Five local golfers Mark Williams, Robson Chinhoyi,Trynos Muradzikwa, Ryan Cairns and Mark Cayeux managed the cut at level par.They came -5, -4,-2,-2, and -1 respectively to lift the Zimbabwe flag high.Robson Chinhoyi was the man of the moment with a huge crowd witnessing his play.

” I missed  a hole in one in the 15th hole but managed a par 3.On the 6th hole , I had an eagle- a hybrid drive and had 3 shots in 2 meters”, he said in an interview with SportWay.

“I prepared the whole year for  this tournament. My main aim was to make the cut.I missed 2 greens in 18 greens,” revealed the ecstatic Chinhoyi.

Mark Cayeux said he was not playing well but related to his last performance for him  to proceed to the 3rd of Old Mutual Zim Open.”My goal is to make into the top 40, Yesterday it was a bit complicated but today I managed to beat the game high”, he said.

A big blow was to the trio in the Sunshine Tour top ten who did not  make the level par.L Rowe had over 4 par, M Brenner was at over 1 and S Ferreira was at over 1 par to miss the 3rd round.
